The situation in Jammu and Poonch remained calm on Sunday following a tense period of cross-border hostilities. No incidents of firing, shelling, or drone activity were reported during the intervening night of May 10–11, bringing a temporary sense of relief to residents in the border regions.

In contrast, Amritsar district continues to remain on high alert due to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. The District Collector issued a red alert early Sunday, advising residents to remain indoors and away from windows. “We have restored power supply for your convenience, but we are still on red alert. Sirens will sound now, indicating this red alert. Please don’t move out of your house; stay indoors and away from windows. We will inform you once we receive the green signal,” the official advisory stated.

Earlier at 4:39 a.m., authorities had urged residents to keep lights off and avoid exposure near windows, balconies, terraces, or public roads as a precautionary measure.

Meanwhile, India has accused Pakistan of violating the ceasefire understanding reached between the two nations’ Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) just a day prior. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, during a special briefing, said India takes these violations “very seriously” and confirmed that the Indian Armed Forces are responding appropriately.

“For the last few hours, there have been repeated violations of the understanding arrived at earlier this evening… We take very, very serious note of these violations,” Misri stated. He further emphasized that Indian forces have been directed to maintain strict vigilance and respond firmly to any further breaches along the International Border and the Line of Control.

India has called on Pakistan to uphold the commitments made and address the situation with “seriousness and responsibility” to avoid further escalation.
